The Castle Doria is an ancient fortification belonging to the municipality of Porto Venere, in the province of La Spezia. The fortress rises above a rocky hill,'s domain seaside village, inter alia one of imposing military architecture of the Republic of Genova.Il fort has a plant that recalls that of a pentagon from which protrude at the downstream three bastions, while on the side of the mountain dominates a strong tower from the circular shape. The task of the ramparts was to control the intrusion to the village and the sea. That portion of the fortress located far upstream, is a native of the sixteenth century, used for the control of hazards from the mountains that surround Porto Venere.
